Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide for bidirectional communication, which can adopt constitution in which no stray light is input in both light emitting and light receiving elements by using a light source of one wavelength. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide 100 for bidirectional communication includes, on the surface of a clad substrate 120, a main waveguide core 10 having a curved part P and a sub-waveguide core 50. The main waveguide core 10 is composed of a pre-curve main waveguide core 20 having an optical axis in the direction of the arrow A and a post-curve main waveguide core 30 having an optical axis in the direction the arrow B, with a curved part P as the boundary between the two cores. The post-curve main waveguide core 30 is curvilinearly shaped. The main waveguide core 10 includes a main coupling face 12 on the projected side face of the curved part P, while the sub-waveguide core 50 includes a sub-inclined face 52. The main waveguide core 10 and the sub-waveguide core 50 are arranged closely in a manner facing oppositely. The pre-curve main waveguide core 20 needs to be formed with a curvature smaller than that of the main coupling face so as not to leak out from the side face of the main waveguide core.
