Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet light weatherable film structure capable of holding its dimensional stability under extreme ambient temperature and humidity. SOLUTION: When a syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) film 3 is used in the combination with an ultraviolet light shielding coating 5, as shown in Figure 1, the syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) film exhibits a substantially superior resistance against discoloration and deterioration caused by an ultraviolet light to that of a non-protective sPS film or a film using a sPS resin compounded with an ultraviolet absorbing agent as a main component. This sPS cover film is useful as an overlay film for a sign 1 and other outdoor applications, and is equal to an acrylic film added with an ultraviolet absorbing agent in ultraviolet light shielding or resistance, and thus can provide an alternative choice which can replace an acrylic resin, a polyester and a fluoro-polymer overlay film and is competitive to a product from such a resin in the aspect of production cost.
