Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically improve safety and easiness of processing of radioactive waste and stability and treatment by reducing the volume of radioactive waste generated from facilities including institutes and hospitals. SOLUTION: The mixture of radioactive waste and burned ash or only burned ash generated in facilities including institutes, hospitals, etc. can be resolved by sintering with glass. After mixing the glass and the burned ash of radioactive waste or after press-molding only burned ash, they are sintered in a temperature of 900 °C or below from the beginning of sintering so that the solidified radioactive waste becomes safe and easy in treatment and stability and preservation becomes superior. Furthermore, by making the glass powder form of soda-lime glass and/or borosilicated glass and by sintering as a mixture of glass of at least 0 to 80wt.% and of the burned ash of radioactive waste over 20 to 100wt.%, a volume reduction of radioactive waste is possible.
