Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brightness control device of electric field emission display elements that can obtain stabilized luminance of the emitted light in the low luminance range. SOLUTION: This control device has an anode current detector 27 for detecting the amount of the anode current, an average anode current detector 29 for detecting the average anode current within the predetermined time, a data adder 20 for calculating the sum of the display data applied to the cathode electrode within the predetermined time, an average lighting rate calculator 21 for detecting the average lighting rate, and an average lighting rate deciding means 22.
