Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of grasping whether defective hot water supply caused by crushing of a piping, clogging of a circulation port or the like occurs or not on the basis of automatic hot water supply quantity. SOLUTION: This water heater comprises a hot water/water mixing valve 25 for mixing water and hot water supplied through a water supply pipe 14 and a hot water supply pipe 16 connected with a can body 11, hot water supply piping 26 for supplying the hot water to a bathtub, a water temperature thermistor 30 and a hot water temperature thermistor 32 respectively detecting temperatures of the water and hot water, and a flow rate sensor 31 for detecting the quantity of hot water entering into the hot water/water mixing valve. The flow rate Q of the hot water flowing to the hot water supply piping is calculated on the basis of Q=äT1-T2}×Q1/äT-T2}, when a set temperature of the hot water/water mixing valve is T, and the hot water temperature and the water temperature are respectively T1 and T2.
