Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of supplying hot water to a set water level even when the air is released from piping after detecting a temporary reference water level and a reference water level. SOLUTION: This water heater 10 supplies hot water by selectively performing both-side hot water supply for supplying hot water/water to a bathtub from both of a bath going pipe 19 and a bath returning pipe 20 connected with a circulation port 18 of the bathtub 15, and a single-side hot water supply for supplying hot water/water to the bathtub from the bath going pipe, and automatically supplying the hot water/water to the bathtub to a prescribed set water level by using a pressure sensor 35 detecting a water level of the bathtub. When the output of the pressure sensor in detecting the reference water level updated on the basis of the temporary reference water level after detecting remaining hot water, or prescribed hot water supply after detecting the temporary reference water level, is changed with respect to an output value just before, the temporary reference water level or the reference water level is detected to specify the temporary reference water level or the reference water level.
