Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid fuel structure having high fuel density suitable for a direct methanol fuel cell to use methanol as the fuel and having improved safety of the fuel and provide a method for producing the structure and the use of the structure. SOLUTION: The solid fuel structure 1 is produced by coating the surface of a volatile organic fuel 2 with a coating material 3. Concrete examples of the volatile organic fuel are alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol and ethylene glycol, ethers such as dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ether and diethyl ether, hydrocarbons such as propane and butane, and acetals such as dimethoxymethane and trimethoxymethane. The coating material 3 is insoluble or scarcely soluble to the volatile organic fuel 2 and exhibits solid state at a temperature below the service temperature of the volatile organic fuel 2 and at least above the ignition point of the volatile organic fuel 2.
