PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe excellent ameliorating agent for bowel movement exhibiting ameliorating effects on bowel movement such as sufficient promotion of defecation even by ingestion of a small amount without adverse effects of inhibition of mineral absorption and to provide a food and drink having ameliorating effects on bowel movement and comprising the ameliorating agent for bowel movement added thereto. SOLUTION: The ameliorating agent for bowel movement and food and drink for ameliorating bowel movement comprise γ-PGA (γ-polyglutamic acid) as an active ingredient.
