Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a benzylamine derivative extremely useful for production of an optically active benzylamine derivative. SOLUTION: The benzylamine derivative has a structure represented by formula (1) [wherein Ar is a 6-15C aryl group which may have a substituent; *1 in the formula (1) represents an asymmetric carbon atom]. A method for optically resolving the benzylamine derivative comprises carrying out optical resolution by depositing an optically active (S)-benzylamine derivative as an (S)-mandelic acid salt in a solution containing the benzylamine derivative and an (S)-mandelic acid.
