Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freezing and melting treatment method capable of further reducing a treatment cost by reducing the number of times of treatment in freezing and melting treatment much in the consumption quantity of energy while making use of the advantage of the freezing and melting treatment method. SOLUTION: Untreated sludge is supplied to a freezing and melting treatment tank 3 from a sludge supply tank 2 to be subjected to freezing and melting treatment and the sludge subjected to freezing and melting treatment is dehydrated by a dehydration treatment device 6. The sludge dehydrated in the dehydration treatment device 6 is supplied to the sludge supply tank 2 to be mixed with the untreated sludge and the concentration of the sludge in the sludge supply tank 2 is enhanced while a cooling medium or a heating medium is supplied to the freezing and melting treatment tank 3 from an ammonia absorbing freezer 10 to freeze and melt the dehydrated sludge.
