Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum breaker with reduction in height, stable switching action of which can be assured by improving arrangement and assembly constructions of its vacuum valve, linkage mechanism and electromagnetic repulsion device. SOLUTION: The vacuum breaker comprises: a truck frame 1; the vacuum valve 3; an operation portion 4 of the vacuum valve 3; and the electromagnetic repulsion device 6, wherein, the vacuum valve 3 and its operation portion 4 are so mounted on the truck frame 1 that they are juxtaposed on it, the electromagnetic repulsion device 6 is added on an axis of an insulation shaft 9 which is connected with a movable shaft 3a of the vacuum valve, and the linkage mechanism 5 consisting of a transformation lever 13, an operation rod 12, a wipe spring 14 and a switching lever 11 connects the insulation shaft with a switching shaft 10 of the operation portion. The vacuum valve is supported by being suspended from an upper frame 15 which is disposed above the truck frame in a posture that the movable shaft is turned downwards, the electromagnetic repulsion device is disposed on an upper surface of the truck frame and then the linkage mechanism which is connected to the insulation shaft is disposed at a low position near the upper surface of the truck frame, and the insulation shaft is disposed inside the truck frame by carrying out setting of an end portion of the insulation shaft inside the truck frame and carrying out wearing of a shorting bar 6b which faces an electromagnet 6a and a clasp 16.
