Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous emulsion composition of a thermal crosslinking synthetic resin, which does not release formaldehyde, has thermal crosslinking property and is useful as a paper treatment agent for providing water resistance and a fiber treatment agent for providing softness and a paper or fiber treatment agent. SOLUTION: The aqueous emulsion composition of a thermal crosslinking synthetic resin comprises an aqueous emulsion of a synthetic resin containing a functional group to be thermally crosslinked and reacted with a carboxy group, especially an emulsion of a copolymer obtained by subjecting an unsaturated monomer (A) and an unsaturated monomer (B) copolymerizable with the unsaturated monomer (A) to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a surfactant and a polycarboxylic acid.
