Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tetrahydrofuran thiocarboxylic acid from a tetrahydrofuran carboxylic acid, not only having less danger and capable of thionizing by using a raw material easy for handling but also in the case that the tetrahydrofuran carboxylic acid is optically active, capable of holding the optical activity. SOLUTION: This tetrahydrofuran thiocarboxylic acid is obtained by preparing an acid hydride of the tetrahydrofuran carboxylic acid corresponding to an objective tetrahydrofuran thiocarboxylic acid, and reacting with a hydrosulfide and/or sulfide of an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal in water and/or an organic solvent.
