Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an ink-jet recording head in which a long-life ink-jet recording head orifice plate is manufactured at a low cost, the plate having stable jetting properties in that the variation in the size of ink droplets, jetting direction and jetting speed is small and the variation of these properties with time is also small, and in which a glass orifice plate with a water-repellent film is manufactured in one step by a mold process. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an ink-jet recording head comprises using a jetting port-side mold 1 and a passage-side mold 2 as molds, the surface of the jetting port-side mold being previously provided with a water-repellent layer 4 before subjected to a molding step, transferring the water-repellent layer from the mold to the surface of an orifice plate in the molding step to form the orifice plate having a water-repellent surface in one step, and then subjecting the surface of the orifice plate to ion-beam or laser processing to remove part of a mold release agent and the water-repellent film, thereby forming a nozzle opening 9.
