PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which can maintain the stopped state of a vehicle even when a power source is stopped or a driver gets out from the vehicle while the braking force is held by a hydraulic type braking device. SOLUTION: This brake controlling device for the vehicle is equipped with a first braking force holding means which holds the braking force by holding a brake fluid pressure (steps S101 to S103), and a second braking force holding means which holds the braking force by automatically controlling a parking brake (steps S105 and S106). The brake controlling device for the vehicle is also equipped with a power source stoppage detecting means which detects the driving stoppage of the power source by an operation of the driver (a step S104), and a braking force switching means (steps S103 to S108). In this case, the braking force switching means holds the braking force by the second braking force holding means when the driving stoppage of the power source is detected by the power source stoppage detecting means in a state in which the braking force is held by the first braking force holding means, and cancels the braking force holding state by the first braking force holding means.
