Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting the stuck quantity of lubricating oil, which method can appropriately adjust the stuck quantity of the lubricating oil by adjusting a sticking efficiency of an effective component of the lubricating agent to a non-horizontal machining surface. SOLUTION: In the method for adjusting the stuck quantity of the lubricating oil containing a solvent and a light base oil to be applied to the working surface in plastic forming, forging, and rolling of metal, the method comprises a step for calculating the following approximate expression showing the relation of the stuck quantity vs. a flash point from the relations of the flash points and the stuck quantities in at least three kinds of trial products of oil, Y=aX2+bX+c, where Y shows the stuck quantity, X shows the flash point, and (a), (b), and (c) show constants, a step for achieving the flash point of the lubricating oil necessary for an existing machine by substituting the stuck quantity of the lubricating oil necessary for the existing machine into the above approximate expression, and a step for determining the composition of the lubricating oil by adjusting the mixing ratio of the solvent and the light base oil of the lubricating oil so as to achieve the flash point described above.
