PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method and a cleaning apparatus for a gas for efficiently removing harmful chemical substances such as VOC and carbon monoxide from the gas. SOLUTION: This method is for cleaning the gas by removing the harmful chemical substances in the gas, and cleaning is performed by water containing metal components with a catalyst action. In the cleaning method, it is preferable to include a process of discharging the water molecule cluster being the water containing the metal components into an air environment and a process of oxidizing and/or decomposing the gaseous harmful chemical substances in the air environment in a gas phase by the catalyst action of the metal components contained in the discharged water molecule cluster.
