Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the damage degree of a damaged part at an inner ring raceway 2 caused by fretting to be appropriately indexed and the damage degree can be easily and accurately evaluated even in the case of a ball bearing of small diameter. SOLUTION: In the damage part including an irregular damage part with a raised part which is equal to or higher than 0.05 μm included inside, a square frame 8 is the smallest of square frames consisting of four edges in an axial direction and circumference direction of an inner ring 3 in the case of seeing the damage part from a direction vertical to a face including the damage part. An inside area A of the smallest square frame 8 and the maximum height B of the raised part in the square frame 8 are measured. Then, damage degree of fretting wear is calculated as (A×B)1/3.
