INSECT GABA RECEPTOR GENE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find an insecticide effective for vermin such as Laodelphax striatellus (smaller brown planthopper)by building a cell expressing γ-aminobutyric acid receptor gene of Laodelphax striatellus and screening an agonist or antagonist acting on the receptor by utilizing the cell. Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find an insecticide effective for vermin such as Laodelphax striatellus (smaller brown planthopper)by building a cell expressing γ-aminobutyric acid receptor gene of Laodelphax striatellus and screening an agonist or antagonist acting on the receptor by utilizing the cell. SOLUTION: A gene of γ-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit is cloned from Laodelphax striatellus and the gene is expressed in an insect cell to form a GABA receptor-like ion channel.
