Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of reproducing an image recorded on a recording medium without causing a stress to a user in consecutively reproducing the image and capable of displaying an image with high definition on an external monitor when the external monitor is connected to the digital camera. SOLUTION: When judging that the external monitor 30 is connected to the digital camera on image reproduction, the digital camera reads high resolution data from an image file being a display object and displays the image on the external monitor 30. On the other hand, when the digital camera judges that no external monitor 30 is connected, if an image feed/return button of an operation section 24 is depressed, the digital camera reads thumbnail image data from the image file being the display object, displays the data on a built-in liquid crystal display device 18, and thereafter, starts reading of main image data from the image file. When no image feed/return button is depressed for a time from display of a thumbnail image on the liquid crystal display device 18 until a prescribed time T1 elapses, the digital camera displays the read main image data on the liquid crystal display device 18.
