Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine to prevent combustion instability such as misfire and perform stable combustion when open timing of an intake valve is after top dead center and even when flow velocity of suction air rises. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 1 is provided with an intake valve open timing control device 18 varying intake valve open timing according to operation condition and a means adjusting combustion conditions in a cylinder. The combustion conditions are adjusted to stabilize combustion conditions in the cylinder when intake valve open timing is set after piston top dead center.
