Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide an emission spectrochemical analyzer capable of accurately analyzing C, P and S being important elements in the refinement of a steel material. SOLUTION: In the emission spectrochemical analyzer constituted so that the surface of a molten metal 2 is irradiated with the laser beam from a laser oscillator 5 to excite the molten metal 2 and the light emitted by this excitation is received on a focusing lens 8 to be spectrally analyzed, a spectroscope 11 and a photodetector 12 are arranged in the vicinity of the focusing lens 8, and the focusing lens 8 and the spectroscope 11 are connected with an optical fiber 10 for transmission of ultraviolet light having a length of 3 m. A calculator 14 is arranged at the position separated by about 20 m from the photodetector 12 and connected to the photodetector 12 by a communication wire 13. The calculator 14 calculates the analytical value of the element contained in the molten metal 2 on the basis of the optical intensity data detected by the photodetector 12.
