Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a sewing machine where a feeding amount is switched suitably. SOLUTION: The sewing machine 1 is provided with: a needle vertically moving mechanism 50 for vertically moving a needle 6 by driving an upper shaft 12a; a feeding mechanism 30 which makes a feed dog 31 appear frequently to the upper surface side of a needle plate 2a linked with driving of the upper shaft 12a and which feeds a matter to be sewn placed on the upper surface of the needle plate 2a forward and backward by a prescribed feeding amount; and a feeding amount adjustment mechanism 40 capable of adjusting the feeding amount of the matter to be sewn by the feeding mechanism 30 by making a stepping motor 43 switch the inclination of a square piece 41. In order to prevent the feed dog 31 from appearing to the upper face side of the needle plate 2a before the feeding amount adjustment mechanism 40 finishes switching of the inclination of the square piece 41 to inclination corresponding to a prescribed feeding amount, the feeding amount adjustment mechanism 40 controls driving speed of a sewing machine motor 7 for driving the upper shaft 12a.
