Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display improved in contrast of an image by employing a black matrix in order to reduce external light reflection. SOLUTION: This plasma display includes: a rear substrate 20; first strip-like electrodes 21 formed on an inner surface of the rear substrate 20; a dielectric layer 22 coated on the rear substrate 20 to cover the first electrodes 21; strip-like barrier ribs 23 formed on the dielectric layer 22 and defining a discharge space; a phosphor layer 25 coated in the discharge space; a transparent front substrate 28 coupled to the upper surfaces of the barrier ribs 23; second and third strip-like electrodes 26 and 27 formed in parallel to one another on an inner surface of the front substrate 28 to cross the first electrodes 21; and the black matrix 31 formed between a discharge cell constituted by including a pair of the second and third electrodes 26 and 27 and another discharge cell adjacent thereto, by filling a groove 32 which is formed on the inner surface of the front substrate 28 in parallel to the second and third electrodes 26 and 27 with a light shielding material.
