Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of an image defect without depending on the lifetime determination of a developer by the number of printed sheets in an electrophotography process using the developer which is composed of two components. SOLUTION: The number of the printed sheets, the number of pixel counts, a toner dispensing amount, and a toner concentration are detected, and the amount of toner throughput passed in a development process is calculated. From the amount of toner throughput, a carrier smearing amount is predicted using a physical model, and a developer time constant and toner electrostatic charge capability are estimated from the carrier smearing amount. The feedforward control of an image formation parameter is carried out from the developer time constant and the toner electrostatic charge capability, and the generation of TED or an image defect called STV is prevented.
