Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus where a foreign matter such as paper powder is efficiently removed, which has sufficient durability and the upsizing of which is prevented. SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus is equipped with a plurality of image forming parts for forming toner images in different colors from each other, and forms an image by multiply transferring the respective color toner images formed by the plurality of image forming parts to an intermediate transfer body and then secondarily transferring them to a recording medium. It is provided with a plurality of cleaning means for removing toner left after transfer remaining on the intermediate transfer body, and is constituted so that the toner recovered by at least one cleaning means which contains the foreign matter such as the paper powder by small content out of the plurality of cleaning means may be restored to a black developing means so as to be recycled.
