PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based copolymer dispersion having low solvent content and giving covering films having high resistant levels (especially, very excellent scratch resistance and acid resistance). SOLUTION: The water-based copolymer dispersion comprises (A) one or more hydroxy functional copolymer synthesized from (a) one or more OH non-containing (meth)acrylic ester and/or vinyl aromatic compound, (b) one or more hydroxy functional (meth)acrylic ester, (c) one or more free radical-copolymerizable ionic and/or potentially ionic monomer, and, if necessary, (d) one or more free radical-copolymerizable monomer other than ingredients (a) to (c), and (B) one or more hydroxy functional polycarbonate polyol as an reactive diluent.
