Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen for aluminum molten metal which is uniform in molten metal flow in spite of a high Mg concentration of the aluminum molten metal, is excellent in the removal of inclusions, is capable of performing casting without the occurrence of clogging of screen due to the inclusions and has a long screen life. SOLUTION: The screen 5 is arranged in a casting mold in casting the aluminum molten metal containing Mg. The screen 5 is constituted of a mesh sheet composed of glass fibers and is constituted as the screen for the aluminum molten metal having a coating layer composed of any one among Al2O3, ZnO, ZrO2, CrN, TiN, and BN or a mixture composed of two or more thereof on the surface of the glass fibers.
