PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation device for a portable terminal capable of intuitively connecting an operation button to a function display on a display panel for easily obtaining a relation between the operation button and the function display even if the function display has a great quantity of information. SOLUTION: Below a liquid crystal display panel 21, first-fourth selection buttons (operation buttons) 35a-38a are arranged in a row. On a camera body, an displayed fixed line 60 is formed for connecting positions for the first-fourth selection buttons 35a-38a to the display area in the liquid crystal display panel 21. On the liquid crystal display panel, an explanation sentence 24a serving as function display setting an AF area, an explanation sentence 24b serving as the function display for setting white balance, an explanation sentence 24c serving as function display for setting image quality, an explanation sentence 24d serving as function display for setting a record size, and the display line 25 connecting the respective explanation sentences to the fixed line 60 are displayed.
