PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve conventional problems that a number of parts of an air bag and sewing man-hour, part costs are increased, a folding man-hour is increased for regularly folding inner members, and folded dimension is increased. SOLUTION: In this air bag device for a front passenger seat, an air bag device comprising an air bag case 1 accommodating an air bag 5, and an inflator 7 generating gas filled in the air bag 5 is arranged to an instrument panel opposed to an occupant. The air bag 5 is inflated and broken at an estimated breakage line to form a door, and the air bag 5 is developed from openings 3 and 4 formed by the door to protect the occupant. In this air bag device, an extension part 2 is formed on the front side of the vehicle, and the front opening 4 is formed by the extension part 2 at the time of proximity developing, so that the air bag 5 is developed avoiding a protective target.
