Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical characteristic measuring instrument for accurately measuring the intensity and/or wavelength of light of an LED chip irrespective of the directionality of the light emitted by the LED chip or the incident angle of the light. SOLUTION: In this instrument, the light of the LED chip 10 is received by a light receiving means 300 to measure the optical characteristics of the light of the LED chip 10 based on an output result of the receiving means 300. This instrument is equipped with a condenser 500 confronting a light emitting surface of the LED chip 10 for condensing the light of the LED chip 10 emitted in respective directions to the receiving means 300. The condenser 500, on which the receiving means 300 looks in, is provided with a substantially spherical recess part 510 of diffusive reflectivity for reflecting the light of the LED chip 10 to cause the light to enter the receiving means 300.
