Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery in which reduction of a battery output and an internal short circuit are hard to occur even when an electrode plate core body of a large breakage resistance against tensile stress is used in which Vickers hardness is 120 Hv or less. SOLUTION: The alkaline storage battery has an active material applied part 11a in which an active material paste is applied to the electrode plate core body 11, and an active material unapplied part 11b in which the active material is not applied, Vickers hardness of the electrode plate core body 11 of the active material applied part 11a is 120 Hv or less, and Vickers hardness of the electrode plate core body 11 of the active material unapplied part 11b is 200 Hv or more. When Vickers hardness of the electrode plate core body 11 of the active material applied part 11a is 120 Hv or less, the breakage resistance against the tensile stress becomes larger. When Vickers hardness of the electrode plate core body 11 of the active material unapplied part 11b is made to have a higher hardness of 200 Hv or more, shear deformation in cutting and buckling deformation in pressure welding of a current collector parts becomes to be suppressed.
