PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination apparatus provided with a plurality of illumination units, composed of a plurality of serially connected LEDs, realizing size reduction and thickness reduction and low cost. SOLUTION: At a master driving part 6 of a master unit 1, LED group 5 is lit by outputting direct current power of a pulsating current by a constantly maintained current value to the LED group 5 composed of the plurality of serially connected LEDs 50 by a direct current power of the pulsating current converted from alternating current power of a power source AC and a constant-current signal generated at a constant-current circuit part 63, and the direct current power from the conversion circuit part 62 and the constant-current signal from the constant-current circuit part 63 are output to a slave drive unit 7 of a slave unit 2. The direct current power of the pulsating current maintained at the constant value at the slave driving part 7 of the slave unit is output to an LED group 5a composed of the plurality of serially connected LEDs 50, and the LED group 5a is lit.
