Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image forming apparatus in which remarkably high image forming speed is ensured. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: first, second, and third image bearing means, each bearing a toner image; a first toner image forming means for forming a toner image onto the first image bearing means; a second toner image forming means for forming a toner image onto the second image bearing means; a first transfer means by which the toner image formed on the first image bearing means by the first toner image forming means is transferred to the first side of a transfer material; a second transfer means by which the toner image formed on the second image bearing means by the second toner image forming means is transferred to the third image bearing means under transfer conditions different from those of the first transfer means; and a third transfer means by which the toner image transferred to the third image bearing means by the second transfer means is transferred to the second side of the transfer material, which is opposite to the first side of the transfer material, under transfer conditions different from those of the first and second transfer means; and a fixing means for fixing each toner image transferred to the transfer material.
