PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system with a function of warranting the completeness of a document that makes the convenience of users improved, by taking consistency between the validity of an electronic document and the validity of a digital certificate, when the validities differ from each other because of the occurrence of a state where the completeness of the document is not ensured sufficiently later, if the document is digitally signed and the validity of the digital certificate expires, before the validity of the document is terminated. SOLUTION: The document management system with an electronic signature function includes an electronic signature means for carrying out electronic signature for ensuring the completeness of an electronic document; a validity comparison means for comparing the validity of the digital certificate used for the signature with the validity (storage term) of the electronic document; and a signature stop means for temporarily stopping operations applied to the electronic signature, when the validity of the digital certificate is shorter than the validity date of the document.
