Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data access method by which a user can virtually recognize a directory containing contents as a directory structure after merge even if not merged beforehand by processing at a side such as terminals which carries out access processing. SOLUTION: A method of accessing a storage in which a plurality of backup copies of a prescribed recording medium are stored has a backup copy search step for searching a plurality of backup copies (S310); and a directory name virtual update step which changes a directory name of a content storing directory in a searched backup copy (S320), and allows a plurality of backup copies virtually to be referred as one backup copy based on a virtually updated directory name.
