Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of preventing off-light of a DMD from made incident on a projection lens, and capable of efficiently cooling the area irradiated with the off-light. SOLUTION: The projector includes the DMD 56 for modulating the light L emitted from a light source, the projection lens 14 for projecting the light modulated by the DMD 56, and a shielding plate 88, arranged in between the DMD 56 and the projection lens 14 so as to prevent the off light L2 of the DMD from being made incident on the projection lens 14.
