SOLUTION: This chamfering work method chamfers the outer peripheral edge part 11 of the plate-like work 1 such as a substrate of a liquid crystal panel. When performing the chamfering work by allowing a grinding wheel 2 for chamfering the work 1 to abut on the outer peripheral edge part 11 of the work 1, a pressing member 3 is allowed to abut on the vicinity of an upper surface 12 and an under surface 13 of the work 1 abutting on the grinding wheel 2.
