Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet friction material having a high coefficient of dynamic friction, hardly causing variation in the total thickness of the friction material, and having excellent heatspot resistance. SOLUTION: The wet friction material is obtained by impregnating a fiber base material with a thermosetting resin, and heating and curing the resultant product. The fiber base material contains 0.01-2 wt.% fibrous carbon selected from carbon nanotube, vapor-growth carbon fiber and the mixture thereof.
