Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record attribute information of data currently recorded on a magnetic tape on an MIC in a table format. SOLUTION: In an attribute information table recorded in an MIC of a tape cassette mounted in a tape streamer drive, data (file) of 1 recording unit recorded on a magnetic tape for each distinguishable identifier, for example, filename and title, date and time of creation and update of a file, data size, a data type indicating a kind of data of a file, a compression rate of data, or the like are recorded as attribute information supplied from a host computer 210, and in addition, attribute information formed after completion of data recording, such as a group number or an offset from a group head which is information indicating a data recording position is registered as attribute information.
