Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing an optically active 3-substituted thiolane derivative in a good yield in reduced reaction processes. SOLUTION: This method for producing the optically active 3-substituted thiolane derivative represented by general formula (3) (R is a hydroxy group-activating group; * represents an asymmetric carbon atom) comprises reacting a diol compound represented by general formula (1) (X is a halogen atom) with a hydroxy group-activating agent to obtain the compound represented by general formula (2), and then subjecting the compound to a cyclization reaction in the presence of a sulfur atom-supplying source compound.
