Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the more stable reproduction of a recording medium. SOLUTION: By a micro-controller 6, a setting value affecting the reproduction of an optical disk 13 is changed when a reproduction error is generated at the reproduction of the optical disk 13, and the setting value after the change is made is stored for every kind of the optical disks 13, and at a retry operation when the reproduction error is generated, the setting value affecting the reproduction of the optical disk 13 is changed to repeat the retry operation with a predetermined frequency, and a counted value corresponding to the setting value when the reproduction is succeeded by the retry operation within the predetermined frequency is counted up and stored.
