Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conversion element capable of stably, highly efficiently, and compactly coupling light to an input portion of an optical device constructed by integrating nanometer-sized elements. SOLUTION: The conversion element 101 is equipped with a transparent substrate 10, a plasmon waveguide 11 and a lens 12. The plasmon waveguide 11 is constructed by aligning metal nanodots having a thickness size of ≤100 nm and composed of a metal material such as gold, silver, and aluminum, on a surface of a side of the transparent substrate 10 at regular intervals. The lens 12 functions as an optical condensing system to condense a laser beam to a metal nanodot 13 on the end portion of the plasmon waveguide 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
