Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of preventing the deterioration of surface treatment of a heat exchanger in a cabin. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 1 for the vehicle is provided with a compressor 3 for compressing a refrigerant; a heat exchanger 5 at the outside of the cabin operated as a radiator in cooling and as an evaporator in heating; and the heat exchanger 7 in the cabin operated as an evaporator in cooling and as a radiator in heating and applied with the surface treatment for deodorization and/or hydrophilic property. Control is performed such that a surface temperature of the heat exchanger 7 in the cabin in heating gets to a deterioration temperature or lower at which the surface treatment is deteriorated.
