Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make determination of quality of a laser welded part fully satisfactory in laser lap welding though the laser welded quality changes by the lap gap fluctuation of materials to be welded. SOLUTION: This is an apparatus for determining quality of a laser welded part in lap welding in which a laser beam LB is movingly emitted to materials M1, M2 to be welded. The apparatus is equipped with: a photodetector 5 that detects a light beam generated from the laser welded part in accordance with the lap welding, on the same axis as the emitted laser beam and at different positions in the moving direction of the laser beam; and a quality determining means 4 that determines the quality of the laser welded part by receiving a photodetecting signal detected at the different positions in the moving direction of the laser beam outputted from the photodetector.
