Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which surely and quickly allows a user to perform operator maintenance by clearly indicating the position of a foreign matter on an original mount glass for the user by an indicating means disposed near the original mount glass to prompt to clean up it. SOLUTION: In order to eliminate the image failure due to a foreign matter (dust such as paper powder) on the image, a means for indicating the position of foreign matter on a glass is provided near the glass so that a user surely removes it. Concretely, among light emitting elements arranged in one line in the scanning direction, only one light emitting element located as the same position as the foreign matter is lit to indicate the position of foreign matter position on the glass, thus intuitively notifying the user of the foreign matter position on the glass. This clearly indicates the glass cleaning position for the user and hence it is expectable that the user surely and quickly cleans. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
