Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive unit in which thickness of the entire unit is reduced and a restriction imposed on the size selection of a thread motor is reduced, and whose power consumption is also reduced. SOLUTION: The motor main body of a thread motor 29, which drives a screw shaft 27 to move an optical pickup 26 in the radial direction of an optical disk 50, is arranged in the region outside the outer diameter of the optical disk 50 being placed on a turntable 22.
