Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine excellent in compactness, low vibrations, low noise and the reliability and durability of a heat exchanger. SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine comprises a water tub 3 elastically supported inside a case body 1, a rotary tub 5 provided rotatably inside the water tub 3 for housing clothes, and a heat pump cycle for drying the clothes provided with: a heat sink 21; a heat radiator 23; and a horizontal type compressor 26, wherein the heat sink 21 and the heat radiator 23 are installed at the inner wall part of the case body 1. By integrally installing the heat sink 21 and the heat radiator 23 at the inner wall part of the case body 1, space is effectively utilized and thus, it is excellent in the compactness, the low vibration, the low noise and the reliability and durability of the heat sink 21 and the heat radiator 23. Further, since an air path can be short and ventilation resistance is reduced, an air volume can be improved and thus the washing and drying machine excellent in drying efficiency can be obtained.
