Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precision magnetic separator which is capable of precisely and conveniently removing a metal foreign matter from a powdery substance and rapidly removing the metal foreign matter even if the fluidity of the powdery substance is deteriorated, and to provide a method for removing the metal foreign matter from the powdery substance. SOLUTION: This precision magnetic separator is provided with a driving part to rotate the magnet, a passage for the powdery substance positioned at the proximity of the magnet, a funnel for guiding the powdery substance to the passage connected to the passage, a closing plate capable of shrinking the diameter of the opening of the funnel and a receiver for the powdery substance, and stores the magnet within the passage. The method for removing the metal foreign matter from the powdery substance comprises charging the powdery substance which may contain the metal foreign matter to the funnel in the magnetic separator, dropping the powdery substance to the receiver via the passage while rotating the cylindrical magnet and adsorbing the metal foreign matter to the cylindrical magnet.
