PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination unit capable of effectively using a light-emitting member. SOLUTION: The illumination unit includes light-emitting members 100b and a light guide plate 100a. The light guide plate has light incident faces 110, 120, a side face 180 facing the light incident faces, and a light-emitting face 150 jointing the light incident faces and the side face, emitting the incident light. A distance and an angle between the incident faces and the side face are made to differ depending on what part of the light-emitting members they correspond to. The light incident faces are composed of first faces 112, 122 parallel with the side face; and second faces 114, 124, and third faces 116, 126 formed adjacent to both sides of the first faces, slanted against the first faces.
